Chota

Chota provides me with a pro-deal on their products. I use their footwear for both Greenland-style and expedition kayaking.

For Greenland-style kayaking in higher volume skinboats I use the Chota Mukluk Light boots. These are too high volume, however for squeezing into a qajaq customized for rolling (only the lowest volume rodeo sock can be used for a rolling qajaq). I used the Mukluk Light boots for competing in the Greenland championships and for touring in the Lake Superior area. My feet stay warm and dry, but the soles are a bit thin for doing much walking over sharp rocks and uneven terrain.

I am using a pair of Quicklace Mukluks for my Newfoundland circumnavigation. These offer more foot protection and a stiffer sole for more support on extremely rocky shores.
